About Harvard Model United Nations

Harvard Model United Nations (HMUN) is the product of a long history of excellence and service. Originally introduced over 79 years ago, the conference is one of the oldest in the world. An initiative of The Harvard International Relations Council, it has repeatedly shaped new paths, set global trends, and achieved the highest levels of quality. Today, HMUN engages over 8000 students each year, across our conferences held in the US, China, Dubai and India.

We co-produce HMUN in India and Dubai along with the Harvard International Relations Council, every year. True to the spirit of the United Nations, HMUN strives to foster a constructive forum for open dialogue on a range of complex issues, including international peace and security and economic and social progress.

"HMUN was just the most incredible experience I’ve ever had! I was extremely delighted by the fact that the resolutions young minds passed in support of crisis-hit nations and underdeveloped nation-states, will be taken into account to actually help the people suffering in war-hit areas."

"I would make the light of Act2Impact that has been lit in the heart and mind of the participating students brighter and take them forward to a further leap in their lives to make the world a safer and sustainable place. In the future, I would go with larger teams for projects catering to the similar belief of Worldview that focuses on Transformative Leadership development in students."

Mitali Bhattacharya
Faculty Advisor (Ex),
Gitanjali Senior School, Hyderabad

"The next generation has a plethora of ideas and the audacity to put across their opinions and that was all pooled in to organize an extravagant show like this. I am proud to see our small delegation of first-timers coming back to school from HMUN India and starting a MUN club. Thank you for igniting that fire."

Jyothsna D’Silva
Faculty Advisor (Ex),
Reqelford International School

"To me this conference (HMUN India) was an essential part of my learning experience and has made me think critically over many stigmatic issues which we tend to ignore."

Ishwari Ade
Delegate,
MIT Vishwashanti Gurukul

"Kudos to the Organizing Committee and the Chairs, I enjoyed the Feedback meetings and the highly committed way in which each point was discussed and the solutions were executed, which proves that each member involved wants only the best for HMUN India"

Elizabeth Koshy
Faculty Advisor,
The Indian Public School

"The students get to take a lot in terms of global awareness, skills: whether it’s debating or negotiating, and very importantly the value of compromise and diplomacy. It is only through these conferences that they get to enact and experience it."

Shamsah Furniturewala
Educator,
Hill Spring International School, Mumbai

"It was an amazing experience where I met a lot of people and made friends. This was a new style of debate for me and I enjoyed it. The talks were very inspirational and I learnt that if you really want to do something and if you have the willpower, you can do anything you want."

Ritika Dinesh
Delegate,
Emirates International School - Jumeirah

"HMUN India is undoubtedly one of the best high school conferences in India. It’s not just the exceptional quality of debate but events that compliment it that makes it amazing. At the end of the day, it is about people, it’s about meeting new friends, reconnecting with old ones and most importantly, improving your own identity."

Jaidev Shriram
Delegate,
FAIPS DPS Kuwait

"My favourite features would have to be committee session. Our director and assistant directors made the whole thing very enjoyable and apart from that, I got to learn a whole lot about parliamentary procedure. It also made me fall in love with MUN, so you’ll probably see me at HMUN India next year as well!"

Gayathri KP
Delegate,
DPS Kuwait

"The experience at HMUN India is unlike any other. Students learn to communicate better, develop as future citizens. We need to move away from old practices, and this is a wonderful initiative."

Janet Fanaian
Faculty Advisor,
DRS International School, Hyderabad
